Associate Director for Research Administration

Position Overview

Yale Cancer Center (YCC), an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, seeks a collaborative and strategic leader to serve as Associate Director for Research Administration.

Reporting to the Director of Yale Cancer Center, the Associate Director provides leadership for the center's research administration activities, including Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG) management, strategic planning, shared resource oversight, research program administration, and initiatives that foster collaborative, translational cancer research across Yale University.

The Associate Director serves as a key member of the cancer center leadership team and works closely with faculty, administrators, and institutional partners to advance YCC's research mission and support continued excellence in cancer research.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead administration of the NCI Cancer Center Support Grant (CCSG), including annual progress reports, renewal applications, and communications with the National Cancer Institute.
• Partner with cancer center leadership to develop, implement, and evaluate strategic initiatives and wide-ranging research priorities.
• Support and strengthen YCC's research programs, shared resources, and pilot funding.
• Provide oversight of planning and evaluation activities, including advisory board reviews and strategic planning processes.
• Supervise administrative and program management staff and promote operational excellence across research administration functions.
• Collaborate with finance, operations, communications, and research leadership to advance the goals of Yale Cancer Center.

Qualifications

• A master’s degree in business or health care administration or a PhD with significant experience in research administration, cancer center administration, or a related field is required.
• Experience with NCI-designated Cancer Centers and Cancer Center Support Grants (CCSGs).
• Demonstrated knowledge of NIH and NCI grant programs and research administration.
• Strong leadership, organizational, project management, and communication skills.
• Experience working effectively with scientific and administrative stakeholders.
